DPS Cinema demonstrates "Enhanced Environments," their latest technology innovation for motion pictures and television at the recent Cine Gear Expo 2015
DPS Cinema made an indelible impression while demonstrating “Enhanced Environments,” their latest technology innovation for motion pictures and television at the recent Cine Gear Expo 2015 held at The Studios at Paramount in Hollywood, California.
Attendee’s visiting the DPS Cinema booth got to experience first hand just what Enhanced Environments is all about. Once you entered DPS Cinema’s immersive experience, you were instantly transported into a re-creation of a cinematic enhanced environment.
One moment, visitors gazed out of the Space Bar environment windows to behold a breathtaking view of the earth while enjoying a Coke in space. Then, at the touch of a button, suddenly are transported over to a local street corner in Hollywood, and then back to visiting the surface of the sun.
The whole experience was so realistic you can practically feel the heat. Panavision cameras were placed within the environment documenting the finished effect as seen through the camera’s lens.
Many of the entertainment industries top name film producers, LD’s, and DP’s in the business stopped by the DPS Cinema booth to meet Paul Kobelja, Vice President, DPS Cinema and Bobby Finley III, Vice President, Cinema Technologies. Finley and Kobelja were on the set and provided educational insight to booth visitors with a live demo of the Enhanced Environment process. Each demo helped illuminate how the process can be applied to any filmed production looking to break out of a dependency on green screen environments and new ways to cut costs in post production.
Among the VIPs in attendance to witness the latest innovations in the industry included Oscar Winning Cinematographer, Claudio Miranda, ASC who used the new DPS Cinema Enhanced Environment process in capturing images for Disney’s feature film Tomorrowland starring George Clooney.
After reviewing and evaluating nearly one-hundred of the newest cinema related tools and technologies submitted and presented at this year’s Cine Gear Expo, we are honored to have received a Technical Award Honorable Mention for DPS Cinema Enhanced Environments. DPS Cinema shared the limelight with our booth partner, Cineo Lighting, who were awarded a Cine Gear Expo Technical Honorable Mention for their remarkably compact and powerful “The Cineo Matchbox Light.”
