DPS Touring provided The End of Times Tour with LED fixtures, dynamic lighting and special effects for the ultimate mash-up of 90’s nostalgia performed by the dueling headliners - Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson.
This summer, Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson embarked on a co-headlining tour together and DPS Touring was there to assist with every step of the way. From June 26th– July 2nd Smashing Pumpkins Lighting Designer, Lawrence Upton, Jon Eldy LD for Marilyn Manson and DPS Touring worked tirelessly pre-visualizing the rig at The Grid @ Los Angeles. The tour saved time and money using the DPS Touring hanging space to dial in over 150 different looks. The result of the efforts turned out to be quite an intricate light show. Various sized fabric hung from the top of the rig and created a canvas for light projections that enhanced each song of the set. The incredible palette of colors really shines for the Smashing Pumpkins part of the show.
Both the Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson utilized 28 Clay Paky Sharpy (L6-20), 18 Vari-Lite VL3500 Wash FX, 2 Acer 23” LED Display and 22 Martin MAC Viper AirFX. For the amazing special effects the Martin Atomic Strobe 3000 DMX, Martin Jem ZR44 Hi-Mass Fogger and Reel Efx DF-50 Diffusion Hazer were used.

The lights and decorative elements were hung and tested at The Grid @ Los Angeles to pre-visualize the entire show ahead of time
Manson’s show started backlit with a god light silhouettes against a golden smoke screen as he swung his microphone in time to thundering church bells that christened his band mates’ entrances. Theatrical smoke and strobes fill Manson’s set as he walked around on macabre-looking stilts for some songs and sang on a demagogue podium and burned a bible for others.
The End Times Tour started on July 7th in Concord, California and ended August 8th at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
